The glass shatters around my feet

floor and placed onto the counter. Dakota raised me like it was nothing, and is
now looking around for the broom and dustpan.

that smirk he always gives me … it’s about to drive me nuts. Jumping down from
the counter, I decide to do this myself. This is a conversation that needs to
be avoided. In the bathroom, I lock the door behind me and locate the peroxide
and a bandage. I hike my foot up on the side of the tub and dab the cotton ball
onto the small cut. My breath hitches from the sting. Satisfied that they’re
clean enough, everything goes back up and I head back out.

Izzy has sworn off relationships. After the death of her father and on the night of his funeral her fiance Peter informed her he was moving and that they were over. After all those years together, she thought he was the one. Yes things had been strained since her father had gotten sick. Now she was determined to spend the summer redoing the beach house and spending time with her two best friends Leah and Kelsey. Now she has to deal with her new neighbor Dakota. Maybe he is built, hot and down right sexy and when they touched it sent sparks through her body. She wasn't going there.
Dakota left the design company to make it on his own. Renting the beach house he wanted nothing more then to get close to Izzy. the hard part was going to be getting her to let him.
A emotionally moving story. I really felt for Izzy. Makes you want to slap Peter. What a dog. Losing her father then her fiance made Izzy closed off to emotions. She didn't want to be hurt again. Dakota was wonderful. Sweet, caring and he made no move to rush Izzy. He isn't sure what will happen when a past secret comes out, he just hopes it won't make Izzy run. Loved the best friends, they subtly and not subtly pushed Izzy and Dakota together. The whole time making sure she was protected. They just wanted her back to the way she was before and to see her happy. Once the secret comes out it makes the story that much more romantic and adds a whole new dimension to the story. I received a arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
